Congratulations to Greg Cummings for setting the record number

Congratulations to Greg Cummings for setting the record number of 1825 accents up the manitou incline in one year!!  Greg completed this amazing feat not just for the record, but to inspire those with type I diabetes and to raise funds for children with cancer to attend Camp Wapiyapi.  This number of ascents up the incline is not only a record for the incline, but also sets a world record for the total number of feet ascending by an individual in one year.

Dr. Thoman and his staff were proud to help sponsor Greg during this endeavor.  Accomplishments like this does not come without sacrifice and difficulty.  To reach his goal, Greg had to climb and descend the incline 5 times a day for 365 days.  He could have probably reached 1900 ascents if he had not fractured his tibia, suffered during a fall during one of the descents down the incline.  He certainly couldn’t wait to completely heal, so a number of the ascents were done with a fracture of the tibia that was partially healed.  A true sign of overcoming adversity!

Even though the endeavor is now finished does not mean that we cannot continue to recognize Greg’s accomplishment and make a contribution to Camp Wapiyapi. This will help cover the cost of a child suffering from cancer to enjoy a week in a camp designed especially for their enjoyment in our beautiful Colorado mountains.  Your donation is tax deductible through Colorado Gives Web site.  See directions below.
